Local context
Little Bears PreSchool in Tampa, Florida, has been helping young children learn and feel loved since it was founded in 1987 by Cindy Cromwell. Created from a true “labor of love,” the preschool was designed to give families peace of mind—an environment where children are cared for with the warmth of “Grandma for the day,” while learning continues in ways that support growing minds. Over time, Little Bears has expanded from a small remodeled farmhouse into five buildings designed to serve each age group, while the mission remains the same: combining caring relationships with meaningful learning. Grounded in Cindy’s background—she was raised on a farm near Little Bears—the school also emphasizes the joy of exploring nature. Learning extends beyond the classroom, encouraging children to discover the world around them and build curiosity at an early age. With decades of history, Little Bears’ impact shows in its community. Many parents who attended as children have returned, and many graduates stay connected and later pursue careers across a wide range of fields, including teachers, nurses, firemen, lawyers, police officers, doctors, and more. The preschool’s continuing legacy is reflected in the loving staff members who remain, and in the stories shared by alumni who often stop by to reminisce and see familiar memories still honored on Mrs. Cindy’s wall. As one family of families, Little Bears continues to care for each generation coming next.
